I. OUR NEXT EVENT - Celebrating 10 Years
Join us on September 28th!
It’s a cool evening in September in 2014. You’ve just buzzed into a lobby and made your way through the beige hallway and find yourself sitting in a cramped living room. A dark red wall accents a room that faces an awkwardly constructed stage. A dim light hangs above the head of Brianne Benness as she begins to tell her story. Our ten year journey has begun.
Ten years later we are surprised, honoured, and excited to say that we’re still going. And we would love to have you join us for a night of stories and celebrating everyone who has contributed to our first decade. Grab your tickets here!
And if you are interested in potentially telling a story at this event, our two workshops are still to come (Thursday, Sep 12th & Saturday, Sep 21st) so sign-up here to get all the details!
And here are a bunch of ways to engage with us online and get information on how to participate in SWDT events:

II. SWDT PODCAST
Ten Podcasts for Ten Years Launching Soon!
Over the summer we recorded ten interviews with storytellers spanning our ten years which will be released soon so be sure to subscribe to catch them!
In the meantime take a step into a time machine and find yourself back into that small apartment in 2014 and hear the story that launched it all.
The Stories We Don’t Tell Podcast has over 150 episodes. Each episode includes a live story recorded at our event and a brief discussion about storytelling. We have also done mini-series about the art of storytelling and writing, dispensing some tips and tricks we’ve learned after working with people and their stories for 10 years.
Subscribe to the SWDT Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen.
III. THE BOOK
The Book turns 5!
As a part of our five year anniversary we published a book!
The book version of Stories We Don’t Tell includes 61 stories that were all told in front of a live audience at one of our shows. The authors have generously contributed these pieces of their lives to be included in this book. Along with each newsletter, we feature a summary of a story from the book. And the very first story in the book is the one mentioned above by Brianne.
My sister and I have begun to catalogue our scars. For the first time, we are able to talk openly about the secrets and the shame and the hurt we’ve been harbouring for our mother. About the anxiety we feel about inadequately maintaining relationships. About how just seeing her number on call display can leave us reeling for days. Does everybody feel like this?
Each story in the book created a memorable moment in front of a roomful of people. Moving through this anthology is an experience where these many moments complement and reflect each other, contradict and draw parallels, have profound wisdom and absurdity. Learn more about the book and order your very own copy at this link.
We welcome any comments or questions, whether it be about the event, podcast, telling a story, or general thought about storytelling. Email us: thestorieswedonttell [@] gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you!
