I. NEXT EVENT
Wait and See.
January involves so much waiting. For the world to reopen. For the winter to break. To see what the new year holds. It’s a time for reflection and anticipation, looking forward and back, while the waiting stretches on…
Which makes it an ideal time to gather and share stories of where we’ve been and where we’re going. Stories that make the waiting more enjoyable and prepare us for what’s next.
Guest producers Kale and Jake (under the expert supervision of Paul and Stefan) are excited to share that the next Stories We Don’t Tell is on Saturday, January 27th. You can RSVP at this link or by clicking on the image below. As usual, the show is free admission, but we appreciate if you could RSVP so we can keep track of numbers.
Want to tell a story at an event? Our January show is your next opportunity, but we also have events occurring throughout the year. II. SWDT PODCAST
Rice our Noodles? You can only choose one.
So here’s our commitment to you. A new season of the podcast will come out before this years season of events comes to a close. A season of at least 10 episodes even. So if you have anything you’d like us to cover, reply to this email, or send us a note via the contact us page on our website. We’d love to be able to tailor some episodes to answering questions that you have, so please do reach out!
In honour of our guest hosts, here is a story that one of them (Jake) told a few years ago. A personal favourite, and one that spawned arguments between myself (Stefan) and Paul for weeks. In Ep 121 Rice vs. Noodles Jake shares a story about learning how to cry again.

III. THE BOOK
The gift that keeps on giving.
In our last couple of shows we’ve had a the great pleasure of welcoming back folks whose stories are in the book to rejoin us on stage. It’s been a wonderful way to revisit some of our favourite pieces from the past.
The book version of Stories We Don’t Tell includes 61 stories that were all told in front of a live audience at one of our shows. The authors have generously contributed these pieces of their lives to be included in this book. Along with each newsletter, we feature a summary of a story from the book. This month, we are featuring this months other guest producer Kale whose story is Chapter 56 in the book. This story features Kale, a silent retreat, and an enticing fellow participant.
“I feel hot heat run up my neck and into my cheeks, then my forehead. An electric shock runs from my chest down to my stomach, followed by a heavy thud behind my sternum. My legs feel wobbly and stop functioning properly. I see myself being seen, my eyes widen, I curl my lips and jerk my head down to look at the beige carpet. NO EYE CONTACT PAULA! THAT’S THE RULE.”
Each story in the book created a memorable moment in front of a roomful of people. Moving through this anthology is an experience where these many moments complement and reflect each other, contradict and draw parallels, have profound wisdom and absurdity. Learn more about the book and order your very own copy at this link.
