I. We’re still here!
Some exciting news.
After taking a longer than usual winter break to allow Stefan to hunker down and kindle the flame of new life (both Mother and child are happy and healthy) our little hiatus is almost over!
We are hoping to be able to have two events in the Spring but given the limitations of caring for an infant, to be able to pull off the one in March we’ll need a robust response from storytellers. So if you’ve told a story before and would like to return, or if you’ve had a story burning in you for a while now…this is your moment! And this is your form (to fill out and let us know you are interested)
The prospective dates for the next two events are March 29th and May 31st, we’ll confirm that they are happening with another newsletter, this is mostly to let y’all know we’re beginning to figure our path back and to gage the interest in Storytellers for the March event.

II. SWDT PODCAST
It’s been 10 years already?
The Stories We Don’t Tell Podcast has almost 150 episodes. Each episode includes a live story recorded at our event and a brief discussion about storytelling. We have also done mini-series about the art of storytelling and writing, dispensing some tips and tricks we’ve learned after working with people and their stories for 10 years.
The latest season of the SWDT Podcast celebrates 10 years of Stories We Don’t Tell. Check out these 10 episodes that includes interviews with SWDT alumni as they reflect on their participation in the event.
The season wraps up with a two-parter. Original founder of the event, Brianne Benness, makes a triumphant return and turns the tables on Paul and Stefan.
Part 1 is the interview with Brianne where they cover just about anything you’d like to know about the event. In Part 2, Paul picks his favourite Stefan story and explains why and Stefan picks his favourite Paul story. Check out the entire season at the links below.

III. THE BOOK
Making that commitment.
The book version of Stories We Don’t Tell includes 61 stories that were all told in front of a live audience at one of our shows. The authors have generously contributed these pieces of their lives to be included in this book. Along with each newsletter, we feature a summary of a story from the book.
Since Brianne came back on the podcast, we figured it was fitting to feature one of her stories from the book. As mentioned above, Brianne is the founder of Stories We Don’t tell and has a few stories in the book.
Before I decided to get married, I read a lot of books about commitment. I read memoirs from commitmentphobes and I read advice books written by therapists and I invited my future husband to spend a weekend in Montreal with me where I could tell him everything I’d learned about the institution of marriage. And because he is patient and also because he wasn’t really worried about what it would mean to be married, he agreed. We did a lot of surveys. They were about how we would manage household chores and how we would raise any future kids and how we would handle it when our values and politics were at odds.
Each story in the book created a memorable moment in front of a roomful of people. Moving through this anthology is an experience where these many moments complement and reflect each other, contradict and draw parallels, have profound wisdom and absurdity. Learn more about the book and order your very own copy at this link.
